A recent growth in student numbers on the Brisbane Campus has resulted in a short-term lack of teaching and office space. To alleviate this issue, temporary modular buildings have been erected on a site previously used as a car park.
These modular buildings were delivered in sections on the back of a truck in January. The sections were then interconnected to create three new buildings, which were completed for the start of Semester 1, 2013.
Two of the buildings, Building W and Building Y, are equipped for teaching and contain 3 rooms that each have the capacity for 35 students (but with movable walls for flexibility). Building Z will be used for office space.
The modular buildings have been well received by both students and staff. They will continue to be used on a short to medium-term basis until other facilities are developed on campus.
