3.11 Official Welcome and Acknowledgement of Staff
3.11 Official welcome and acknowledgement of staff
The welcoming of external and internal guests should be undertaken by the Master of Ceremonies (MC) at the beginning of the proceedings. Guests should be acknowledged in order of seniority, commencing with external guests followed by internal guests (optional). There may be some exceptions depending on the guests in attendance. Asking a colleague to review the guest list and highlighting those who should be acknowledged, is a good exercise to ensure important guests are not overlooked. Upon registering guests at the event, we recommend one final check of guests that require acknowledgement in case some have sent late apologies or other guests in their place.
If another ACU staff member is delivering the official welcome, guests should be welcomed in order of seniority, starting with external guests (as per the above) and then internal guests for those in attendance (please refer to the order of seniority of internal guests below and correct position titles).
Please see below the example of guests in order of seniority.
(exception: if the Governor-General is attending, he should be acknowledged first)
