The IT Directorate is improving ACUs digital meeting and collaboration tools to help staff communicate and collaborate more effectively from any device, anytime and from anywhere.
The Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) Project will integrate ACU’s video and teleconferencing, instant messaging, staff availability (presence), and web collaboration tools with Microsoft Office 365. The UCC Project is part of the IT’s Digital Workspace to provide staff a seamless digital workspace experience across all devices.
Skype for Business will be integrated with Polycom into the one system to provide a seamless video and teleconferencing experience.
Skype for Business lets you connect with anyone through messaging, meetings (video and audio), and screen sharing all in one app that works with Office.
With just one click to join a meeting scheduled in Outlook—you can begin video/teleconferencing from any internet connected device in any location. You will be able to join a meeting via your Skype for Business or Polycom Real Presence clients or a web browser.
In the coming year, we will also deliver improved integration meeting spaces, lecture halls and auditoriums.
Improved meeting experiences
Staff can work together across multiple technology platforms
Meetings can easily be conducted from remote and dispersed locations
Saves you time—no time wasted trying to connect to colleagues through clunky, disparate communications systems
Reduce travel costs
Why is this changing
We are looking to simplify our meeting tools and bring about an improved user experience.
Currently ACU has a range of collaboration tools with multiple vendors. This infrastructure is aging and reaching full capacity, and there is no inter-connectivity between these systems and our Microsoft Office 365 collaborative tools.
Who does this impact?
We are upgrading your existing Microsoft Lync client to Skype for Business.
Skype for Business will be progressively rolled out location by location across ACU from January 2018, and it will be fully operational by March 2018.
Information awareness sessions will be held to show you how to use the new enhanced integrated audio and video conferencing system.
