To support enrolment targets for 2016, ACU will be accepting direct applications for courses usually offered through VTAC until 21 February 2016, or until quota targets are reached.Anyone who has NOT already submitted a VTAC application can apply directly for any of the UG or GET courses that are usually processed through VTAC.
Decisions are still being made but offers are being emailed progressively and unsuccessful applicants are also being advised.
Unsuccessful applicants fall into one of two categories - those that have not met the eligibility criteria for the course OR those that have met the criteria but due to the competitive nature of admission into their chosen program are unable to be offered a place at this time.
The applicant is advised which category they fall into, and AskACU have been updated regarding decisions coded into Banner so that any calls received can be answered directly at the point of call rather than needed to be referred on to either Admissions or the School for further detail.
Any late transfer requests must be submitted to Admissions with pre-approval from the relevant Head of School.
Outstanding transfer requests are a priority for Admissions processing with the aim of completing all outstanding transfer requests, (including late and reversals) completed by Friday 5 February, prior to Tutorial Direct opening.
Over 940 deferment requests have been received from students who were made an offer for Semester 1, 2016.
Admissions are processing these requests in the order they are received and have processed requested received up to 19 January 2016. Currently there are 492 deferment requests in process.
If a student has received more than one offer to ACU via QTAC, UAC or VTAC, their most recent offer will be considered to be their preferred option.
If the student would rather accept an earlier offer, they must advise the Admissions Section immediately using the online Preferred Course Notification form.
A considerable number of applicants have applied for the following education pathway courses:
- Certificate/Diploma of Education Studies – as a pathway to the B Education (Early Childhood and Primary)
- Certificate/Diploma of Liberal Studies – as a pathway to the B Education (Primary) and/or B Teaching/B Arts
A great deal of pre-assessment work has been required to determine the outcome for these students and to ensure that the pathway offered to them is the one best designed to meet their future career aspirations. In addition to this, many of these applicants have applied to study multiple courses across multiple campuses which has made determining their preferred option a priority.
Unsuccessful applicants have been advised that they unfortunately are ineligible for the course, mainly due to having an ATAR lower than 49.5, the minimum required for these courses.
Remaining applicants will be contacted via email by Admissions to confirm their preferred course and offers will be made the week commencing 1 February.
