ADMISSION TO COURSEWORK PROGRAMS POLICY

On 1 March 2016, the Admission  to Coursework Programs Policy came into effect,  replacing the Admissions Policy and Admission Rules, and will therefore apply  to all mid-year admission actions including offers, deferments, transfers etc. Admissions  are in the process of communicating the changes in this policy to Student  Administration and the University.

COURSE/CAMPUS TRANSFERS

A reminder  regarding changes to the assessment process of course/campus transfer requests  (from the Procedures  for Admission to Coursework Programs :

4. Transfer
4.1 Transfer of course or campus will be  through a competitive selection process.
4.2 The minimum eligibility requirements  for a course/campus transfer are detailed in Section 4.16.2 of the Admission  to Coursework Programs Policy.

  1. For undergraduate transfers, a new selection rank will be calculated in  accordance with Section 2.1 of the Procedures for Admission to Coursework  Programs. In addition to this new rank, the previous entry rank will also  be considered. If either of these ranks is equal to, or above the published  cut-off for entry to the new course/campus from the previous year’s main offer  round, and all of the other eligibility requirements are met, the transfer will  be approved subject to availability of a place. Undergraduate transfer requests  will be processed after the results for the current semester are released. If a  student has a previous rank equal to or higher than the previous year’s  cut-off, the transfer application can be processed earlier.
  2. Transfer requests for courses identified in Schedule 1 of the Procedures will only be considered once a student has completed one full-time year of  study in their current ACU course. A new rank will be  calculated using the ACU course GPA once results are finalised and this rank  only will be used. If this rank is equal to or above the  published cut-off for entry to the new course from the previous year’s main  offer round, and all of the other eligibility requirements are met, the  transfer will be approved subject to the availability of a place.

Schedule 1: Courses with Additional  Transfer Eligibility Requirements
Bachelor  of Occupational Therapy
Bachelor of Physiotherapy
Bachelor of Speech Pathology

  1. Postgraduate transfer requests can be reviewed for eligibility as they are  received, provided that the student has met the minimum eligibility  requirements, but have not completed the course of study. Students will be  advised the outcome of their transfer application as soon as possible via their  student email.
  2. Where a transfer application is unsuccessful, a student will remain in  their current course of study. A student can re-apply to transfer in a future  study period and be re-assessed at that time.

4.3 Students who are course completing in  one course must submit a new application if they want to commence study in a  new course.

4.16  Transfers

4.16.2 Eligibility criteria
Applications for transfer are determined on  the basis of academic merit. To be eligible for consideration for a transfer a  student must have:

  1. successfully completed at least two units within  the program at ACU in which the applicant is enrolled; and
  2. in the case of an undergraduate student, achieved a rank, calculated in  accordance with Section 2.1 of Procedures for Admission to Coursework  Programs, at least equivalent to the published cut-off for entry to that  program from the previous year’s main offer round at the given campus; and
  3. in the case of courses detailed in Schedule 1 of the Procedures for  Admission to Coursework Programs, satisfied any additional transfer  eligibility criteria; and
  4. in all cases, have satisfied the admissions prerequisites and any other  entry requirements for the program to which the applicant is seeking to  transfer.

Where a student has completed one award and  seeks entry to another, they must follow the standard admission application  process to apply for the second course.

Deferment  of Approved Transfer Offer

4.15.9 Deferment is not available to current ACU students  who have been approved for a course and/or campus transfer.Any  queries regarding course/campus transfer processing, please contgactKyra Simondson.
