Protecting Children and Vulnerable Adults: Legislation and Regulations

Each State and Territory government is responsible for the administration and operation of child protection services. Legislation in each State and Territory govern the way such services are provided.  In addition, each State and Territory has its own legislation applicable to working with children or vulnerable people.  The principal child protection Acts in each Australian state and territory are listed in the table below.
