I am rolling over an online unit. What materials should I check for copyright compliance first?

All material will need to be checked for copyright compliance. Start with those elements that, if not compliant, are most likely to put you and the University at risk of legal action ie.:

  • resources central to the students’ learning experiences
  • material drawn from commercial CDs/DVDs/videos
  • book sections or journal articles not in the University’s Copyright Database
  • supplementary material provided by publishers eg. teaching resources from CDs or a website.

Those elements you cannot make compliant should be replaced or removed. Contact the University’s Copyright Officer for assistance.
