Plunkett Centre for Ethics

A University Research Centre of Australian Catholic University (ACU National) and St. Vincents & Mater Health, Sydney.

About the Centre
The Plunkett Centre is an ACU National centre for the study of ethical issues in health care and biomedical research. It conducts research, engages in teaching (both clinical education and post-graduate supervision) and provides an ethics consultancy service for health care practitioners.

The Centre was formally established in 1992 on the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, and Australian Catholic University.

It is named after John Hubert Plunkett (1802-1869), the first Catholic Solicitor-General and Attorney-General of the colony of New South Wales and a great friend and benefactor of the first Sisters of Charity in Australia. The centre is located on the Darlinghurst Campus of what is now known as The Campus of St. Vincents and Mater Health, Sydney.
