Research Applicants

Follow these steps to apply for a Research Higher Degree:

1. Find a Supervisor

Search the Research Expertise Register (RexR) and make contact with a potential supervisor for your research topic. Find a supervisor who would be interested and available to supervise your research.

2. Develop a Research Proposal

The proposal should be approximately 300-500 words and must include answers to the following questions:

  • What are you intending to do through the research (problems/issues for investigation)?
  • What is the theoretical background to the research (literature review)?
  • How do you plan to conduct the research (methodology)?
  • What do you hope to achieve through the research (outcomes)?
  • What are the timelines for the completion of the research?
  • Are there any specific resources which are required for the research project?

3. Prepare your Documents

Gather certified copies of the necessary documents for your application:

  • Research proposal
  • Academic qualifications (transcripts and completion certificates)
  • Passport
  • Evidence of English proficiency
  • Any other documents which can support your application (e.g. copies of prior research, awards, work experience)

Make your application to ACU International via any of the following methods:

Approach two referees and ask them to complete a confidential referee report (Word, 74kb)  and to email it directly to international.admissions@acu.edu.au
