Student accommodation

Specialised apartment accommodation is available near most campuses.

Homestay

Homestay offers international students the opportunity to live in a local home while studying in Australia. Homestay is suitable for stays ranging from a few weeks to many months. Homestay students don’t need to sign any long-term contracts, pay a bond, find furniture or search for a property themselves.

The University’s preferred homestay provider is Australian Homestay Network (AHN). Homestay is available at all ACU campuses. AHN provides homestay services for all campuses of ACU.

By living with an Australian family you will improve your English and get a closer understanding of Australian life. Students should budget approximately AUD $35-$40 per night (varies by state) for Homestay which includes

  • A clean furnished single room (this includes items like a bed, desk, wardrobe, chair and a study lamp), as well as a supportive family environment and home to live in
  • Meals (breakfast & dinner) and accommodation (including utilities)
  • Ongoing Homestay host and student support
  • AHN 24/7 professional phone support
  • AHN Insurance policy

Students have access to bathroom and laundry facilities and can choose a range of AHN meal service options.

Homestay hosts are trained to guide students with

  • Settling into their new community
  • Understanding the basics of Australian culture
  • Practicing conversational skills
  • Learning the basics such as buying transport tickets, where the local shops are, how to access banking, internet, mobile phone and personal safety tips
  • Frequently used English and ‘Aussie’ words and phrases
