Sr. Patricia Pak Poy RSM
Sr. Patricia Pak Poy RSM was awarded Australian Catholic University's (ACU National) highest honour, Doctor of the University (honoris causa), at the University's Ballarat Campus (Aquinas) graduation ceremony on May 3, 2003, in recognition of her work in social justice and advocacy, and the role of women in society and the Church. The award also recognises Sr. Patricia’s distinguished service of many years within the Catholic education sector and the Catholic community generally.
“Sr Pak Poy has worked tirelessly towards the banning of landmines and raising awareness of, and support for the victims of landmines. She has worked for social justice in Australia and abroad as well as in the service of education for young women,” said Professor Sheehan.
Sr Pak Poy is a member of the Order of Australia, and has been awarded the ANZAC Peace Prize by the RSL and the 2002 Human Rights Award by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. She has also been honoured by the Medical Association for the Prevention of War and the Australian Council for Overseas Aid.
