Justice Susan Crennan
Justice Susan Crennan was awarded Australian Catholic University's (ACU National) highest honour, Doctor of the University (honoris causa), at the Melbourne Campus (St Patrick's) graduation ceremony on Thursday 25 May 2006.
Justice Susan Crennan received an Honorary Doctorate at the Faculty of Education graduation ceremony for her extraordinary service to the judiciary, to the legal profession and the Australian Community.
Speaking about the Justice Crennan's achievements, ACU National Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Sheehan AO said, "Justice Crennan has contributed in an outstanding way to the legal profession and has recently been appointed Justice of the High Court of Australia.
“She has also contributed significantly to her profession through extensive voluntary committee work. Justice Crennan has also given her time and expertise to the university sector as a thorough researcher and she offered valued expertise on the development of graduate law programs, especially in the field of intellectual property law.”
“Academic excellence is but one aspect of Susan Crennan's life, however. She has demonstrated extensive interests well beyond the law and has made a significant contribution to Australian society as such.”
