School of Psychology

Students undertaking undergraduate courses in psychology at ACU National are assured of a sound, practical, values-based education in accredited programs within a small and intimate learning environment. Relevant, exciting and fulfilling opportunities exist for students undertaking, research in the school.

Undergraduate programs

The School of Psychology offers accredited three year programs in psychology including the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Pass and Honours), and the Graduate Diploma in Psychology. It also offers the accredited major in psychology within the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Social Science (general) programs. In addition the school offers to the Bachelor of Social Science (Counselling) program

Postgraduate programs

All post graduate coursework programs - the MPsych/DPsych (Clinical), the MPsych/DPsych (Child and Family), the MPsych/PhD and the Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology - have full accreditation with the Australian Psychological Society Ltd as either a 4th 5th, 6th, and 7th years of study in psychology. Both the Postgraduate streams are approved for associate membership with their respective colleges. Research degrees PhD, MPhil are also able to be undertaken in the school. Enquiries for entry into research degrees must be directed to the Office of Research Services.

Our Staff

Many staff of the School of Psychology are practitioners and clinicians and are actively involved in professional associations and community service.

Psychology Clinic

Through our Psychology Clinic, we offer counselling and psychological assessments to the general community at a low cost. The counselling service is provided by probationary psychologists from the Master of Psychology course. Students work in a voluntary capacity and are supervised by registered psychologists (ACU National staff).
