Secondary Teacher, Samaritan Catholic College
“Teaching is a job where you really can make a difference. I mean really, (and no insult intended!) how many people look back and say ‘I remember my dentist?’ You remember teachers because they give you the gift of education.”
“Most first-years would probably say ‘surviving!’ is a major accomplishment for a newly graduated teacher. I wouldn’t go quite that far, but this year has been a great challenge. Everyday at work, I feel that I make a contribution!
“Samaritan is a school with a great range of cultures and every student brings a different perspective to the experience of education. The students are constantly making me laugh and teaching me new things, which is awesome.
“ACU National confirmed my ideas about ‘what I wanted to be’. The voluntary unit in the Bachelor of Arts saw me working in a primary school, which was great but established in my mind that secondary education was the right choice. My teaching rounds in the Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) sent me to Samaritan College, where I’m currently working.
“If not for ACU National, I’m not sure where I’d be right now!”
