Social Work
Social workers help people, influence policy development and assist communities.
Social work is a rewarding and challenging profession.
Our courses provide an education in social work that is informed by a critical understanding of the social science disciplines. They are oriented to the professional values and practices in the social work profession.
Our courses educate social workers according to the standards set by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Field education is central to social work. Students undertake two full-time placements, each approximately 14 weeks under professional supervision. Through supervised practice, students are introduced to agency work and procedures, effective practice and the dilemmas facing social workers.
The Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) are designed for students who already have a three-year degree or its equivalent, or who have successfully completed two-thirds of a recognised degree.
