Literacy and Numeracy Testing for Initial Teacher Education Students From 1 July 2016, Education students across Australia are expected to sit and pass a national literacy and numeracy test prior to completing their course.
Eligibility Entry to all undergraduate teaching degrees in New South Wales (NSW) has changed from 2016. The Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Science at ACU is structured to allow applicants to meet the new entry requirements within the degree program. Therefore, you may enter this program if you achieve the required ATAR. Entry without 3 Band 5s is allowed because this degree satisfies the NSW entry requirement listed in point c below (see Eligibility tab), by including a full year of discipline studies before you study how to teach, (see NESA website). If you do not achieve the ATAR required for entry to the Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Science, you can enrol in a Diploma in Educational Studies (Tertiary Preparation) at ACU and on successful completion of this Diploma, you can apply for entry to the Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Science. If you are offered a place, you can receive credit for the first year of the Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Science program.
