About philosophy of religion

ACU philosophy of religion statue of Mary MacKillop

Consider the connections between rationality and faith, understand the nature of religious language and religious experience, and learn to pose a range of other questions in philosophical theology. Philosophy of religion is a broad area of study that encompasses religious thinking, practice and other phenomena. Topics include conceptions of divinity and the God-world relationship – either from within a religious tradition or from beyond one – rational arguments concerning God’s existence and nature, and issues such as the problem of evil and ideas concerning life after death.

Where can philosophy of religion take you?

Studying philosophy of religion can help prepare you for a rewarding career as a secondary school religious education or philosophy teacher. You’ll also develop a range of transferable skills that will be useful across many other professions. Combine a degree in philosophy with a degree in theology or law. Alternatively, you can major or minor in philosophy as part of a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Theology or Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Arts. Or you might choose to minor in philosophy as part of the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Psychological Science.
