Narelle Haw
Midwife, Epworth Freemasons Hospital Maternity Unit
Narelle Haw from the small town of Boort in north central Victoria, always had aspirations of becoming a midwife. “My midwifery interests were born of growing up in a large family and watching my siblings develop their families,” says Narelle.
“I attended many open days around Victoria and had the Bachelor of Midwifery at ACU National as my top preference. I liked the fact that it had smaller class sizes, modern facilities and friendly people.
“I thoroughly enjoy helping women learn how to care for their baby and I also find teaching students and new midwives very rewarding.”
“Studying at ACU National has helped me to learn about midwifery around the world and at home.
“A turning point in my midwifery training was travelling to Vanuatu as part of an elective subject to help in two hospitals. It opened my eyes to see a whole other aspect of midwifery.
“This year I will take on more responsibilities, such as antenatal education with a view to travel to developing areas in the future.”
