Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary)
Qualify with a highly respected degree in education and build skills in the national priorities of literacy, numeracy, science and technology. You will also have the opportunity to specialise in religious education and in other education areas, such as early childhood education.
Placements in a variety of educational settings from early childhood centres and schools are offered from the first year of the program.

Eligibility |
An applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules. Apply to relevant state Tertiary Admissions Centre. To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent: Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales Queensland Victoria |
Applicants require the equivalent of Australian Year 12 certificate and an overall academic IELTS score of 7.0 (with a minimum score of 7.0 in all sub-tests). Pre-requisites may also apply for entry into some major and minor sequences. Students completing an Australian Year 12 in NSW who do not achieve Band 4 in two units of English and Mathematics will be required to complete concurrent literacy and numeracy units within their program of study. |

Description
This course is designed to develop both teachers for early childhood settings and generalist primary teachers with particular strengths in literacy, mathematics, science and religious education. The course includes studies in early childhood specialties preparing teachers for practice in early childhood education. Students can select a study pattern to meet the requirement to teach in Catholic, independent and government schools.
The course aims to produce educators who continue to think deeply and critically about education, the social, political and cultural contexts that shape early childhood education and schools, and the ways to continue to grow professionally. Students/Graduates are encouraged to work collaboratively for justice and in order to make a positive difference in the lives of children and to shape a more just and equitable society.
Students will be engaged in a holistic approach to learning, incorporating a genuine respect of all cultures, religions, traditions and history, and will be assisted in developing an identity nourished by both a spiritual and intellectual sagacity.
Studies in religious education and theology are included in the course to enable graduates to obtain accreditation to teach religious education in Catholic schools. Students not seeking such accreditation may undertake approved alternative units.
Professional Experience
Students must complete professional experience units during which time they are required to be available full-time.
Other Prerequisites to Undertaking this Course
Students accepting a place in this course are required to participate in a number of professional placements throughout their program. In order to participate in professional experience it is the responsibility of each student to ensure that they are able to successfully complete the child protection screening required in their state. A Working with Children Check is compulsory for each student. This enables participation in compulsory professional placement, a requirement for course completion. In Queensland this is called a Blue Card.
International students must also obtain and present their relevant police check from their home country and from any other country/ies where they have been domiciled for twelve months or more in the last ten years. These police checks must be sighted and authenticated before students will be permitted to undertake a professional placement in schools.
English Language Requirements
IELTS with an overall score of 7.0, including an individual score of 7.0 for all tests.
