An applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules.
Apply directly to Australian Catholic University. To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the Certificate in Educational Studies or equivalent. Applicants must meet all requirements including the English and Mathematics requirements of any Bachelor degree that they wish to transfer into/or for which they seek credit. Requirements for Completion of the Advanced Certificate in Educational Studies To qualify for the Advanced Certificate in Educational Studies, a student must complete 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings. The Course Coordinator will advise appropriate unit selection. |

Description
The Advanced Certificate in Educational Studies will allow students who have completed the Certificate in Educational Studies to continue their studies in the field of Education. The course is specifically targeted at students who have completed four units in the Certificate in Educational Studies but have not achieved a place in the course of their preference.
The course mirrors part of the first year of the pre-service undergraduate Education courses with a focus on Education Studies which orients the students to the field of education with background studies for primary and secondary teaching in areas, such as mathematics, literacy and science.
The major objectives of the course are to:
- promote student access to educational pathways and award courses, including students from equity groups;
- facilitate student access and achievement in higher learning.
On completion of the courses, students will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- critical and analytical abilities;
- enthusiasm to search for further knowledge and understanding;
- open-mindedness and receptiveness to new ideas;
- expertise in chosen academic field;
- knowledge and skills to meet relevant professional requirements;
- understanding of and commitment to professional ethical standards;
- communication and interpersonal skills in working with clients and colleagues;
- commitment to values consistent with the Universitys mission;
- a spirit of service to the community;
- commitment to good citizenship, including respect for individuals, empathy with persons of differing cultural and religious backgrounds, community responsibility and concern for the environment.
