Nano Nagle Scholarships

Established by the Presentation Sisters, Queensland Congregation, to commemorate and honour the work of their founder Nano Nagle. Members of the Order have become aware of the injustices perpetrated against the traditional owners of the land and therefore have begun to be involved in the Indigenous reconciliation process and to appreciate, and learn from Indigenous spirituality, culture and history. The specific goal of these scholarships is to encourage the development of leadership skills of emerging Indigenous leaders through professional preparation during their studies.

  1. The Scholarships will have a value of $2,500 per annum for the duration of the recipient's course.

  2. The Scholarships will be open to Indigenous students undertaking a course of study at Brisbane campus of the University. Preference will be given, but not restricted, to applicants pursuing studies in (first) Education or (second) Nursing disciplines in their final year of study.

  3. Applications should include a written statement of approximately 200 words providing;

    1. evidence of ongoing contribution to and/or leadership in community service and support of Indigenous people;
    2. an explanation of how the intended program of study would potentially benefit Indigenous people; and
    3. an explanation on how the Scholarship could financially support their intended program of study.

  4. Two Scholarships may be awarded each year on the recommendation of a Selection Committee consisting of the Deputy-Vice-Chancellor (Students, Learning and Teaching), the Academic Co-ordinator, Weemala Indigenous Education Unit, a nominee of each of the Heads of Schools of Education and Nursing at the Brisbane campus, a representative of the Presentation Sisters in Queensland and the Director, Marketing and External Relations.

Remember to submit all the supporting documentation required (as listed in point 3 above) as well as your completed application form, including certified documents where necessary.
