Master of Arts (Theology)
This course is intended for students who, either at undergraduate or graduate certificate/diploma level, have completed at least four semester-length units of theological study. It is well suited to members of a range of professions in ministry, teaching, or pastoral areas, as well as for those seeking such study for personal interest. The course aims to give students a well developed understanding of some of the principal subject areas of contemporary Catholic theology, in the context of ecumenical and inter-faith dialogue.

Eligibility |
An applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules. Apply directly to Australian Catholic University. To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed a Bachelor degree or equivalent and theological studies equivalent to the Graduate Certificate in Arts (Theology) or a four unit undergraduate minor in theological studies. |
The equivalent of an Australian Bachelor Degree with a four unit undergraduate minor in theological studies, or a Bachelor Degree plus a Graduate Certificate in Arts (Theology). Students must also have an overall academic IELTS score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 for all tests). |

Description
The Master of Arts (Theology) is a generalist postgraduate coursework degree which provides a pathway for graduates without substantial theological background to gain a foundation in the study of Christian theology; and, for graduates with at least an undergraduate major in theology, the course enables them to deepen their knowledge and skills in theology.
This course is designed to enable students to:
- study the meaning and practice of Christian theology within the Catholic tradition;
- develop and enhance a critical academic understanding of the Christian scriptures, the history of the Christian tradition, the systematic and doctrinal heritage of Christian theology, and the moral and practical dimensions of Christian faith;
- engage with contemporary social and ethical issues, ecumenical and interfaith contexts, and the relevance of theology to human culture;
- articulate the inter-relationships between theology and particular vocational, professional and pastoral activities.
