Eligibility

An applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:

  1.  
    1. a Bachelor degree with honours in accredited psychology course with minimum of IIB honours; or
    2. a Bachelor degree with accredited four year major study in psychology; or

  2.  
    1. a Bachelor degree with accredited three year major study in psychology and satisfactory completion of an additional year of accredited study in psychology, or equivalent; or
    2. qualifications and experience assessed as equivalent by the selection committee; and

  3. demonstrated suitability to undertake the course as evidenced by satisfactory:
    1. academic referee report;
    2. professional referee report; and
    3. for short-listed candidates, interview with the selection committee.
  • Academic IELTS 6.5 (with minimum score of 6.0 for all tests);
  • Four years of an accredited undergraduate psychology sequence, comprising an Honours degree in psychology, or a three year degree including an accredited sequence in psychology plus an accredited fourth year in psychology;
  • Assessment of psychology qualifications by the Australian Psychological Society;
  • Referee reports (one professional/personal and one academic); and
  • Interview.

Entry is on a competitive basis. All applicants are ranked in October the year prior to admission before being considered for an offer in early December.

Description

This course is a fifth and sixth year program in psychology open to successful graduates of an accredited program in psychology. It provides psychology graduates with ethical values, advanced knowledge and professional skills in psychology, integrated by means of the scientist-practitioner model.

Students will be prepared for responsible work as practitioner psychologists and also will be skilled as researchers. This course is offered in the discipline of educational and developmental psychology.
