Graduate Diploma in Applied Exercise Science (Exercise Prescription)
The Graduate Diploma in Applied Exercise Science (Exercise Prescription) and Master of Applied Exercise Science provide advanced academic programs in the discipline of Exercise Science. The postgraduate course sequence in exercise, prescription and rehabilitation involves initial entry into a Graduate Diploma in Applied Exercise Science which leads to an option to continue to the Master of Applied Exercise Science (an additional 80 credit points).The postgraduate courses aim to provide advanced professional preparation in the discipline of Exercise Science. This specialisation will provide professional training, skills, competencies and some clinical practicum hours needed for accreditation by the Australian Association of Exercise and Sports Science (AAESS). Graduates of the program will be knowledgeable in exercise prescription and committed to the professional and ethical delivery of this service.

Eligibility |
An applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules. To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:
1 An applicant who lacks the formal prerequisite but who has at least one years experience in a related area of exercise science may apply for special admission.

Applicants require a three year Bachelor degree in Exercise Science or equivalent plus academic IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each test). |

Description
The course has been designed to enable students to practise their profession in various exercise settings. A commitment to evidence based ethical practice in exercise prescription and the ability to conduct accurate and meaningful clinical assessments are essential. Students will prescribe appropriate intervention programs and design effective exercise management, adherence and rehabilitation programs.
Course Strands
The course comprises of:
Professional Strand
The professional strand consists of two units of study and provides the basis for the advanced knowledge and skills needed for the development of ethical and professional counselling and clinical practices.
Discipline Strand
This strand consists of four units of study, which provide the underlying knowledge for analysis, prescription and rehabilitation relevant to musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory and neurological functions, as well as advanced strength and conditioning.
Clinical Strand
The clinical strand provides the opportunity for students to complete 240 hours of the required 1,000 hours of supervised clinical experience as part of their enrolment.
(Note: It will be necessary for students to complete additional professionally supervised fieldwork concurrently to enable the application to AAESS for accreditation as a specialised practitioner).
English Language Requirements
Academic IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each test).
