Description

The Graduate Certificate in Higher Education course has been designed to provide a scholarly basis for university teaching and leads to a formal qualification in tertiary teaching. While designed primarily for ACU staff, with the aim of enhancing the quality of teaching and learning within the context of the Universitys Mission and Policies, the course is open to all eligible graduates, although you must be teaching in a post-secondary institution. The course aims to provide university teachers with the opportunity through the scholarship of teaching and learning to reflect on current education theory and adult/tertiary student learning research from the perspective of their own teaching experiences. The emphasis is on improving student learning rather than on instructional methods per se. The course will encourage participants to become skilled, reflective, culturally aware, and responsive individuals committed to their continuing professional and ethical development and with an understanding and appreciation of higher education in the Catholic tradition.
