About occupational health and safety

Foster a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with legislation. Our suite of occupational health, safety and environmental management (OHSEM) courses are designed for practicing, retraining and aspiring OHSE practitioners, as well as business professionals and leaders who seek to improve practices and compliance in their organisations. As an OHSE specialist, you'll be equipped to protect co-workers, family members, customers and, employers and employees in workplace environments, helping to reduce injuries and illness. You'll also learn about physical and psychosocial hazards, risk assessment and monitoring, environment and safety law, and business administration and management issues.

Flexible study options

Our graduate OHSEM courses are designed for working professionals and are offered through Open Universities Australia. Whether you’re retraining or looking to diversify your career options, you have the flexibility to study when it suits, online, from anywhere in the world.

A management focus

Add management to your abilities. Our OHSEM courses have a management focus that sets us apart from other providers. Study OHSEM with us and you’ll develop your knowledge and skills for higher-level management positions as well as your technical OHSE skills.

Professional recognition

The OHSE profession has undergone a rapid national and international transformation in recent years, with national and international standards changing the employment landscape. Employers now seek graduates with the right OHSE accreditations, so it’s never been more important to choose a course that puts you on the best path to becoming a certified OHSE professional. Both our Graduate Diploma in OHSEM and Master of OHSEM are accredited by the Australian OHS Education Accreditation Board. This means if you graduate with either of these degrees, you’ll meet the requirements for certification as an OHS professional.

Make others your mission

Choose the university dedicated to making a positive impact. As part of our commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and the common good, it’s our goal to produce well-rounded OHS professionals who approach everything they do with firm morals and a strong sense of ethics – who think critically and care deeply about the safety and wellbeing of others.
