About primary education

ACU primary education students trying out an experiment

Ignite a love of lifelong learning in the leaders of tomorrow. Study primary education and you’ll be equipped to teach the next generation the building blocks of literacy, numeracy, science, physical education, arts education and more. You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake an overseas Community Engagement placement.

Decide to specialise

As you build up your teaching knowledge and skills, you’ll specialise in one particular area such as literacy, mathematics, religious education or inclusive education. This enables you to explore a key part of teaching in-depth, so when you get into the classroom you know your students are learning from the best. And if you specialise in religious education you’ll be qualified to teach in Catholic schools when you graduate. We’ve built strong partnerships with schools to ensure you’ll have access to countless opportunities when you begin your job search.

Jacob Millman

Bachelor of Education (Primary)

“I believe education is of enormous value and I want to share it with those who may not have access. As a primary education student, my best experience was a four-week placement in the Solomon Islands with 20 other ACU pre-service teachers and staff. It was truly rewarding seeing how much the students valued their education and how much they appreciated the teaching and stories I was able to share. I hope teaching can take me around the world.”
