Applied Public
Health

Passionate about preventing illnesses and promoting health through advocacy and policy, this course is for you. Nursing, Exercise Science and Management, as well as a wide range of Public Health subjects, are all examples of the variety of subjects you will study. As a graduate of this course you will develop the knowledge and skills to contribute to a healthier society.

The new Bachelor of Applied Public Health will be offered at Australian Catholic University's (ACU) Brisbane, Melbourne and North Sydney Campuses from 2013. This exciting new program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to influence public health outcomes in individuals and communities alike and to become, for example, one of the following:

  • community health officer
  • policy analyst
  • program evaluator
  • health educators
  • project officer and advocate

Industry Experience

Opportunities for work placements include community groups, health organisations, and local and state governments. This enables you to choose an area of specialisation in your field work.

Career Pathways

The Bachelor of Public Health prepares graduates to work in any of the following:

  • social and community planning in local and state government
  • advocacy and policy in health-related NGOs and charities
  • Public Health/ Health Promotion
  • Government Policy
  • Australian National Preventative Health Agency
  • Medicare and other primary and community health agencies
  • human consumers interacting with health services
