Description
The Master of Educational Leadership aims to provide candidates with values, attitudes, knowledge and skills in educational leadership that will enable them to infuse their systems and organisations with a commitment to the highest ethical and moral standards and, at the same time, facilitate efficient and effective leadership and administrative practices. It is specifically tailored for practitioners who are employed in, or who aspire to leadership roles, in a system of schools or individual schools.
The course will:
- provide an opportunity for students to explore and critique the knowledge base for educational leadership;
- offer students a variety of perspectives, theories and concepts of leadership in general and on moral leadership;
- assist students to describe and analyse the context of leadership in schools in Pakistan;
- challenge students to analyse and use theories and concepts of leadership in their practice;
- encourage students to develop and apply ethical standards;
- challenge students to critique their current practice using concepts and frameworks from the course, with a special emphasis on leadership of learning; and
- engage students in problem-based learning in leadership issues within their own context.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have satisfied the following prerequisites:
- a four year bachelor degree in Education; or
-
- a two year bachelor degree in Arts, Science or Commerce;
- a Pakistan bachelor degree in Education or a International Graduate Certificate in Education (IGCE); and
- at least three years experience in the field of Education;

- a Pakistan master’s degree in any discipline;
- at least three year experience in an educational leadership position or six year experience in the field of education; and
- provision of evidence of professional knowledge, skill and continuous professional development.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree
2.1 To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 cp from Core Units;
- at least 20 cp from Specialist Units;
- up to 40 cp from Electives.
2.2 A student who has completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Leadership may be granted advanced standing.
3. Exit Point
A student who has completed the requirements prescribed for the Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Leadership may exit from the course with that award.
