The Diploma in Social Science combines the study of psychology, sociology and Australian society with a choice of other subjects and the development of communication skills.

It prepares students for a range of human services careers in government, public and community-based agencies.

Note: the Diploma in Social Science course is for international students only, and is available as a UniAccess-International program. A student who successfully completes four or more units in the Diploma in Social Science may be given a Certificate in Social Science.

This social science diploma also offers a pathway to a relevant Bachelors degree.

Important Note on Fees

All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a full-time study load of 40 credit points (normally 4 units) per semester.

A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:

  • the number of units studied per semester;
  • the choice of major or specialisation; and
  • elective units.

The University reviews fees annually.

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed year 12 or equivalent.

Domestic Students An Australian or New Zealand citizen, or Australian permanent resident or permanent humanitarian visa holder.

The course assists students to prepare for a diversity of careers in the human services in government and public and community-based agencies.

A UniAccess-International student who successfully completes eight units specified by a UniAccess program may either leave with a Diploma qualification or continue their studies with a place in the Bachelor of Social Science course.

Important Note on Fees

International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
