Course: Time Management

Course objectives
To develop participants' time management skills and enable them to more effectively plan, prioritise and complete their work in terms of its urgency and importance.

Target audience
Appropriate for all employees (modified workshop for managers/supervisors).

Course duration
1 full day or 2 x 1/2 days. (2 full days required for team vision development).

Outcomes for course participants
On completion of the training participants will be able to:
* Accept personal responsibility for management of their time (we all have 24 hours a day)!
* Prioritise and complete their work in terms of its importance and urgency
* Minimise crisis management through effective forward planning
* Assist members of their team to more effectively manage their time
* Know the specific areas in which they can improve their management of time
* Progress toward achieving a team vision and related strategies (if the participants are all from one team)

Course content overview
* Time: a precious and limited resource
* How successful people manage their time
* How important? How urgent? (Covey's matrix)
* How should I spend my time? How do I spend my time?
* What issues impact on my, and my team's management of time?
* Experiential group exercises (Teamwork Challenge or similar exercise)
* 'If you fail to plan, you plan to fail' - the paramount importance of planning
* Where are we now? Where do we want to be? How do we get there? (If one group)
* Time: a micro perspective (day-to-day) and a macro perspective (how you spend your life)
* Action plan
