Course objectives
To give inexperienced managers the conceptual framework and knowledge to be able to effectively set performance plans, coach and appropriately delegate to their staff, give constructive feedback and build an effective team.
Target audience
Supervisors and first level managers without previous leadership/management training.
Course duration
2 days (preferably spaced 1 week apart).
Outcomes for course participants
On completion of the training participants will be able to:
* Evaluate their own leadership/management practices
* Understand the key requirements of them as a front-line manager
* Set clear, timely, challenging, achievable performance expectations for staff
* Effectively coach, support and give constructive feedback to the staff in their team
* Recognise good work performance and deal appropriately with poor work performance
* Delegate appropriately, according to the skills, commitment and developmental needs of staff
* Act as a positive role model in terms of values, skills and behaviours and build effective teams
