Course objectives
To give participants the skills to clearly understand their role and responsibilities as a front-line manager, be aware of their strengths and weaknesses as a leader, and be able to implement a leadership action plan.
Target audience
Supervisors and first-level managers without previous leadership-management training.

Outcomes for course participants
On completion of the training participants will be able to:
* Evaluate their own leadership/management practices
* Understand the key requirements of a front-line manager
* Set clear, timely, challenging, achievable performance expectations for staff
* Effectively coach, support and give constructive feedback to the staff in their team
* Recognise good work performance and deal appropriately with poor work performance
* Delegate appropriately, according to the skills, commitment and developmental needs of staff
* Act as a positive role model in terms of values, skills and behaviours and build effective teams
