Course objectives
To enable participants to deal effectively with obstacles and opposition tactics and bring mediations to a successful conclusion, based on ethical practices, assertive communication and an underlying win-win philosophy.

Target audience
All those for whom mediation is an integral part of their job.

2 days.

Outcomes for course participants
On completion of the training participants will be able to:
* Identify their own typical style when mediating
* Develop an understanding of the theory of the mediation process
* Practise the listening and assertive communication skills needed for effective mediation
* Employ ethical, cooperative mediation relationships
* Work towards a win-win outcome through mediation
* Deal effectively with obstacles and opposition tactics
* Appropriately plan, propose, bargain and reach agreement in mediation situations
