Course Description

The aim of the Diploma in Visual Arts and Design course is to provide an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to study a selection of units of interest to them in a program which may enable them to progress to degree studies. In 2009, the course is offered on a fee-paying basis to on-shore international students.

This course is designed for students interested in a broadly-based program that integrates the study of selected units in the areas of studio-based art, graphic design or history and theory of art and design combined with relevant communication and business skills. The course assists students to prepare for a diversity of careers in the visual arts and design industries.

Opportunities for further study

An international student who successfully completes eight units from the Schedule of Unit Offerings in the Course Rules may either leave with a Diploma qualification or continue their studies with a place in the Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design.

A student who successfully completes four or more units in the Diploma in Visual Arts and Design may exit with a Non-award Certificate in Visual Arts and Design.
