The Tuition fees quoted above are for commencing students in the current year who undertake a normal full-time load. Fees are reviewed annually.

Tuition fees for continuing students may increase by up to 3 percent each year for the minimum duration of the course as provided on your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE). Students who continue to study beyond the minimum duration will have the relevant annual commencing rate applied to their fees for subsequent study periods.

Description

The course aims to produce graduates who are competent in applying the principles of physiotherapy, ethical in their practice and independent learners.

The course will provide students with the opportunity to interact in order to explore and analyse critically the prevention and treatment of human movement disorders.

Students will develop practice knowledge intricately linked to, and informed by, theory in the discipline of physiotherapy. Graduates will be equipped to provide treatment and advice to restore physical function in patients.

The course is designed to enable students to consider a wide variety of career options related to physiotherapy. These range from international level sports organisations, to hospitals, local community practices and nursing homes.

Students are required to undertake clinical placements in a variety of areas (as a combination of required and elective units), these include:

  • musculoskeletal
  • cardio-respiratory
  • paediatrics
  • gerontology
  • rural physiotherapy or international physiotherapy placement
  • women's health
  • occupational health
  • burns and plastic surgery
  • rheumatology
  • intensive care
  • psychiatry
  • disability services
  • spinal unit or community physiotherapy.

Professional Recognition

Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA)
The APA is the peak body for physiotherapists in Australia. The APA advocates for equitable access to physiotherapy and provides support and information for physiotherapists, through educational resources and professional development opportunities. The APA also publishes the Australian Journal of Physiotherapy.

Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC)
The APC is an independent national organisation, responsible for the maintenance and regular review of the Australian Standards for Physiotherapy. The APC accredits physiotherapy programs and Australian universities.

Physiotherapists Board of Queensland
In Queensland, all physiotherapists are legislatively required to be registered with the Physiotherapists Board of Queensland. Information on the registration process is outlined on their website.

New South Wales Physiotherapist Registration Board
There are approximately 6,686 registered physiotherapists in New South Wales. Information on the registration process is outlined on their website.
