Once you have your results, what happens next and what if you want to change the course you applied for?
I didn’t get the mark I expected. Can I change my preference?
There are several rounds of university offers until February 2018, so you have several chances to change your preferences. For the first round of offers in December this year you have until 17 December 2017 in NSW and ACT, 18 December 2017 in Queensland and 20 December 2017 in Victoria to change your preference.
We know this is complicated so head over to the Australian Catholic University (ACU) Facebook page at 11am (AEDT) on Friday 15 December and 11am (AEDT) on Saturday 16 December for our ATARs/OPs are out, what next? | FB Live events. We will answer all your questions about courses and career paths, alternative entry and pathways, and student life at ACU.
Or come and see us in person at one of our Know Your Options information sessions . Details of these are below.
How do I change my preference?
Now that you have your result, log in to the relevant university admissions centre website (VTAC in Victoria, UAC in NSW and ACT, and QTAC in Queensland ) and consider the order of your course preferences. You should only apply for courses you are interested in, motivated to study and believe you can do well at. Always put your top choice first, and list the next options in the order of your preference.
Also check that you meet the prerequisites and any extra requirements of each course on your preference list.
What happens if I don’t meet the ATAR/OP requirements for entry into a course?
Don’t panic, there is always another option. We offer a number of alternative pathway programs or you can complete a Certificate IV or higher at TAFE and re-apply for the course again.
I didn’t complete VCE/HSC/UAI how else can I get into university?
If you have completed any studies higher than a Certificate IV then you may be eligible to apply for a course at ACU. Otherwise if you are over 21 years old you can complete a Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) which will strengthen your application.
What do I do if I’ve already been made an offer?
You will need to wait for your official offer email from the university with instructions on enrolling into your course. As your personal email account may not be used to getting emails from ACU, keep an eye on your junk mail folder in case your offer goes there. You can also contact our friendly staff at AskACU.
Got more questions? Attend a Know Your Options information session at your local ACU campus to speak to us in person. We’d love to see you.
