Faculty of Education Community Engagement

Professional involvement of the Faculty of Education in community activity remains vibrant. Many Faculty members are important members of outside committees and boards, whilst others provide an advisory service to a variety of community and educational organisations. All Schools exhibit their commitment to community service through participation in a variety of conferences.

Members of the Faculty of Education have also been involved in activities such as:

Professional support to members of the Good Samaritan Community in their work in East Timor teaching English.
School literacy projects.
Christian Brothers International Renewal Program.
Liaison with representatives of Parramatta CEO on the development of Board of Studies approved units to be offered to selected years 11/12 students.
Input at a specially convened meeting of parents and students to inform them about the program (Step Up Into Teaching) and to encourage applications.
International Circle of Ethical Leadership.
Chairing of Parramatta Diocesan Liturgical Commission.
Membership of Parramatta Diocesan Pastoral Council.
Resource development for the CEO and Liturgy Commission.
Addressing groups of teachers for DET and CEO, Sydney on ways of enhancing the literacy of ESL students.
Liaison/work with Aboriginal communities in Wilcannia and Broken Hill regarding issues of pre-school education and substance abuse.
