ACU Staff Giving FAQs

What is Staff Giving?

Introduced in 2016 following staff consultation and feedback, the ACU Staff Giving program provides continuing and fixed-term ACU staff members the opportunity to support equity scholarships and other important community engagement programs through pre-tax payroll deductions. Importantly, every gift made is matched by the University, dollar-for-dollar, so the impact is doubled.

How do I get involved in Staff Giving?

Becoming involved in Staff Giving is a simple process. All you need to do is complete the New Donation form via the Manage Your Donation option from the Staff Giving page.

How do I cease my donations?

Ending your donation arrangement for Staff Giving is also fast and simple. This can be done through the End Donation form via the Manage Your Donation option from the Staff Giving page. Requests will be processed and deductions from your salary will cease effective the next available pay.

How do I correct an error in starting a new donation, renewing a donation or ending a donation?

If you have made an error in your donation request, all you need to do is to cancel your current donation through the End Donation form and resubmit a new request with the correct information using the New Donation form via the Manage Your Donation option from the Staff Giving page. Requests will be processed and changes will be effective the next available pay.

How can I change my level of giving?

If you decide that you would like to change your level of giving, all you need to do is to cancel your current donation through the End Donation form and resubmit a new request with the updated donation amount using the New Donation form via the Manage Your Donation option from the Staff Giving page. Requests will be processed and changes will be effective the next available pay.

How can I get updates on Staff Giving?

You will receive periodic email updates from the Staff Giving team about the impact of your donation.  You can also contact the Staff Giving team at staffgiving@acu.edu.au directly to receive an update or your relevant Donor Relationship Manager. Please see Contact Us for further contact details.

What happens at tax time?

Donations to the Staff Giving program are pre-tax and deducted from your gross fortnightly salary. Your tax will automatically be adjusted in accordance with the ATO PAYG Withholding Tax Tables, so you will receive the tax deduction immediately.

You will not receive receipts for the individual deductions.  At the end of the financial year, your payment summary will show the total amount you donated to Staff Giving for the year.

You do not need to include these donations as part of your tax return as you have already received the tax deduction.

How much of my donation goes to the project I choose to support?

100% of your gift will be transferred directly to the program or charity you choose to support. The University takes no administration fees from the Staff Giving program.

In addition, your donation is matched dollar-for-dollar by the University.

Can I choose another ACU project to donate to?

You can, and you are encouraged to do so! However, the University can only offer payroll deductions for a limited number of dedicated funds through the Staff Giving program.

If you would like to donate to another ACU project, you can do so through Give Now by selecting ‘Other’ and specifying the project that you would like to support.
