Scholarships, bursaries, faculty prizes and awards are critical to student life. They make a significant difference to a students' capacity to contribute to their communities, participate fully in university life, and excel in their chosen profession. Our annual awards ceremonies are an opportunity for ACU to celebrate student achievement in academic, community leadership, research and professional fields, and show our sincere appreciation to our generous donors, partners and supporters. We hope you were able to join us for one of these events and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

At our 2015 ceremonies we honoured 100 faculty prizes and awards and 135 scholarships and bursaries: over $250,000 worth of financial support for ACU students. More than 600 donors, student recipients and their families, and ACU staff attended the awards ceremonies across five ACU campuses during April and May.

Our generous supporters established several new scholarships in 2015, and ACU established academic merit scholarships in honour of the University's 25th anniversary.

Each scholarship, bursary, prize and award is accompanied by a rich history and personal significance to our donors. In Ballarat, the Sisters of Mercy Scholarship recognises the campus' origins in Aquinas Training College: established by the Ballarat East Sisters of Mercy in 1909. Given out for the first time this year in Melbourne, the Emergency Nursing Advocacy Bursary was established by the Emergency Nursing department staff of St Vincent's Public Hospital, who have raised funds over the years to give financial and career support to an ACU nursing student. DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club has supported ACU Strathfield students since 1995 in achieving their goals despite disadvantage and hardship. So far a total of 75 ACU students have received scholarships from DOOLEYS and have been able to access tertiary education as a direct result.

On behalf of our students we would like to thank our many donors and supporters. Accessing education and succeeding at university is a challenge for many. Financial burden, competing priorities, and travel from regional areas can make progress and pursuing dreams difficult.

ACU Foundation is deeply grateful for the generous support of our donors, partners, families and faculty members for believing in our students, acknowledging their success, and inspiring them to reach new heights.
