Co-founder at Salon REaD and former Non-executive Director at Queensland Regional and Remote Women’s Network Arts graduate
Salon REaD occurs in suburban Brisbane providing a platform for writers, poets, visual and performing artists and musicians to connect directly with audience. Audience and artists co-mingle and support each other. Having completed her term as director she continues to support the Queensland Regional and Remote Women’s Network initiatives that connect, develop and inspire women in regional and remote Queensland communities. Pamela’s background is largely in human services particularly emergency and disaster response in Australia and internationally. In Queensland she has overseen major sport and recreation infrastructure projects for community, local government and peak sporting organisations.
In 2016, Pamela launched Fiftythings2016 – a commitment to live the year with a wardrobe consisting of only 50 items. The focus of this project was to raise awareness of the social and environmental impact of fast fashion and drew international interest and acclaim. On her sixtieth birthday in 2017 she initiated Season Two Small Wardrobe, a second year of living small with clothing. She is currently writing I Quit Fashion which brings together her reflections on clothing, and living responsibly.
