Registered Midwife and Project Officer at the Australian College of Midwives Bachelor of Midwifery (Indigenous)
Cherisse, a proud Central Arrente woman, was the first student to graduate from our Away-from-Base Bachelor of Midwifery (Indigenous) program. She is passionate about improving outcomes for Aboriginal women and their babies, and held a role as an outreach midwife in the remote Warlpiri Aboriginal community of Yuendum, one of the largest Aboriginal communities in central Australia.
Cherisse is currently a project officer with the Australian College of Midwives. Here, she is helping to develop the organisations Reconciliation Action Plan and the Birthing on Country Project, a project to improve birth outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mothers and babies.
