ACU National's School of Education (Queensland)
The School of Education at the Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo) is committed to improving the quality of the educational process. To this end, it conducts teaching and research, which are informed by the values of rational inquiry, intellectual independence and respect for evidence, and which will foster critical and informed engagement with educational theory, policy and practice.
The activities of the school are diverse. However, throughout we have one common aim - to promote effective learning - whether that be the learning of our own students through our teaching or the learning of those with whom we come into contact through our research and consultancy work. We prepare teachers to become educational leaders. The purpose of our programs is to develop reflective professionals who are student-centred, collaborative and sensitive to issues of diversity and culture.
At the undergraduate level we offer teacher education in both primary and secondary education. Students may undertake specialisations in Early Childhood, LOTE Education and Middle Schooling. We also offer a Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Education and a Bachelor of Education (Indigenous Studies) to indigenous students.
At the postgraduate level, we also offer a range of courses including the Master of Education (Research), Master of Education (Learning and Teaching) and the Doctor of Education.
The school holds at the heart of its work the importance of attracting a large number of high-quality students from the full spectrum of education and training from pre-school to post-compulsory education.
