ResearchMaster

Late in 2009 ACU will introduce a new research management tool called ResearchMaster (RM).

What is ResearchMaster?

RM is a comprehensive software solution that supports research management. It has a number of modules; initially ACU is implementing the Publications and Projects modules. From late 2009 all data related to publications and research projects will be recorded in RM. In subsequent stages of the project, further capabilities will be implemented.

How will it change the way we collect and report on publications data?

  • Continuous collection of research data instead of annual collection.
  • Academics will complete a form and a verification checklist and provide this to the Research Data Collection Coordinators (RDCCs) in their school or centre.
  • The RDCC will then enter the data directly into the RM database.
  • RM is capable of generating a range of reports.  Academics will be able access reports of their publications.
  • Training for RDCCs will occur in late 2009.

How will it change the way we collect and report on research projects data?

  • We will record all research grants and funding applications nationally.
  • Comprehensive data collection will facilitate a range of useful reporting that will, in turn, enable university wide evaluation and improvement strategies.

What will the benefits be?

  • Comprehensive, accurate and timely data collection and data management.
  • Comprehensive reporting on ACUs performance in publications and research projects.
  • More targeted and effective strategies to enhance research outcomes at ACU based on up-to-date and complete data.

There is a project team currently working on the implementation of RM. For further information about this project email Pauline.Collins@acu.edu.au, Manager of Research Services.
