Raimond Gaita is Professor of Moral Philosophy, Kings College, University of London and Professor of Philosophy at the Australian Catholic University. His books include Romulus, My Father, A Common Humanity: Thinking About Love & Truth & Justice, The Philosopher's Dog and Breach of Trust: Truth Morality and Politics.

Jeff Sparrow        Torture as Terrorism

Jeff Sparrow is the co-author, with sister Jill, of Radical Melbourne: A Secret History and Radical Melbourne 2: The Enemy Within. He is reviews editor at Overland Magazine, and a member of the Justice for Jack Thomas campaign.

Peter Coghlan        Torture: Its Meaning

Peter Coghlan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Philosophy, Australia Catholic University, St Patrick’s Campus, Melbourne. He has published papers and articles in the fields of Ethics, Aesthetics and the Philosophy of Religion and contributes widely to public debate on significant moral issues of the day.

Barry Hill        Why Wash?

Barry Hill is an acclaimed historian, writer and poet. His books include the multi-award winning Broken Song, Sitting In, The Inland Sea and the award winning narrative poem Ghosting William Buckley. His essay, The Mood We Are In: Circa Australia Day 2004 won the Victorian Premier's Award for Best Essay Advancing Public Debate 2004.

Hilary Charlesworth        The Law & Its Transgressions

Hilary Charlesworth is Professor of International Law in the Research School of Social Sciences and in the Law Faculty at the Australian National University in Canberra. Her books include Writing in Rights: Australia and the Protection of Human Rights and The Boundaries of International Law: A Feminist Analysis, co-authored with Christine Chinkin.

Jorge Aroche        Effects & Recovery

Jorge Aroche is a clinical psychologist and since 1997 has been Executive Director of the NSW Service for the Treatment And Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS). He has recently been elected as the Secretary General of the International Society for Health and Human Rights.
