ANZELA
The Australia and New Zealand Education Law Association (ANZELA) was established in 1990 and has chapters in New Zealand, and in several Australian states. Michael Dean, Executive Officer of the Institute of Legal Studies is a member of the Victorian Chapter.
Each year, it holds a two day conference at which a large number of papers are presented on a broad range of topics relating to the impact of law on education. The papers are published and available for purchase. Those presenting papers usually include academics from the two disciplines of law and education, lawyers in private firms which have an education law practice, education administrators and teachers, lawyers who represent education unions, and lawyers employed by both government and non-government educational authorities.
Topics covered typically include, teacher liability, bullying, outdoor education, discrimination law, harassment, employment issues (dress codes, evaluation, stress, discipline etc), child protection, copyright, discipline in schools and privacy, as well as other current issues.
2009 Conference
ANZELA is holding its 2009 conference in Melbourne, from 30 September to 2 October 2009. The theme is "Education: A Risky Business?".

Academic journal
