Sarah Poyton
In her second year of environmental science at the North Sydney Campus (MacKillop) Sarah Poyton went to work on a mine site in far north Queensland as part of Rio Tinto's vacation work program.
"After some of the field trips, especially visiting the mines, I got really interested in the mining and regeneration side of things and wanted to do some work experience"
"It was really beneficial to get that practical experience leading into my final year."
Months out from completing her final year of study, Sarah gained a place in Rio Tinto's graduate program where she will monitor water samples, air quality, greenhouse gas emissions and revegetation.
