Planning Framework

The Planning Framework has a cascading structure with more detail added at each level of strategic and operational planning. The multiple levels are integrated with a network of supporting plans which impact across the organisational structure and form part of the University’s matrix management.

  • Strategic Plan - the University's peak planning document that establishes the Mission, Vision, Strategic Goals, Key Result Areas and University Performance Indicators for the entire organisation. ACU's Strategic Plan has a three-year planning horizon and is accompanied by a set of University Performance Targets that are tracked and reviewed annually.
  • Thematic Maps - supporting documents that further explain the University’s position and direction with regards to a particular aspect of the University’s strategy.
  • Enabling Plans - additional plans that provide the detail necessary to enable the University to properly respond to the Strategic Plan. These plans integrate with Organisational Unit Plans and are incorporated into portfolio, programme and project management.
  • Organisational Unit Plans - specific strategies for a particular Organisational Unit and the first step towards implementing the high-level strategies. Organisational Unit Plans vary in content but the targets/milestones are directly aligned with those of the Strategic Plan 2012-2014.
  • Individual Performance Plans - developed as part of individual staff performance development and planning process.
