Lenten Lecture
ACU National’s Lenten Lecture was introduced in 1999 and is the University’s major public oration. It addresses the theme of theology in dialogue with Australian culture, while also contributing to the relationship between theology and other disciplines offered at the University, the Catholic Church and society. The first Lenten Lecture was delivered by Archbishop John Bathersby, Archbishop of Brisbane.
2007 Lenten Lecture
Adelaide Archbishop The Most Rev. Philip Wilson discussed Love and Lent in the 2007 Lenten Lecture at the North Sydney Campus (MacKillop) on the evening of Ash Wednesday 21 February.
2006 Lenten Lecture
The Apostolic Nuncio to Australia, Archbishop Ambrose De Paoli presented the 2006 Lenten Lecture, Who do people say I am? But you…who do you say I am? (Mathew 8:27-30). The forming of a special relationship. The lecture was held on 2 March at ACU National's Canberra Campus (Signadou).

Father Mark Raper SJ, Provincial of the Australian Jesuits and previous International Director of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), presented the 2004 Lenten Lecture, Building Peace, Bringing Hope, at the North Sydney Campus on 25 February. “At a time in our history when the entire world is increasingly dominated by fear and insecurity, when currently there are as many as 24 wars being waged across the globe is there any hope for peace,” questions Father Mark Raper. “Each of us is invited to follow our desires rather than surrender to our fears,” he said. |
