About Us
Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Equity Pathways Office sits within the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Students, Learning and Teaching.
The Commonwealth Government’s 2009 Transforming Australia’s Higher Education System policy has provided the Equity Pathways Office with federal funding since 2010. This policy, underpinned by the findings of Professor Denise Bradley’s Review of Australian Higher Education report, aims to:
- improve teaching quality and learning outcomes at all Australian public universities
- increase the number of Australian domestic undergraduate students who complete an undergraduate degree.
- attract those from groups typically under-represented in higher education, such as those from the following backgrounds:
-
- low socio-economic status
- regional
- rural
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Our aims
The Equity Pathways Office has been working on the development and delivery of a range of programs since 2010. These aim to widen the participation at ACU of students from the above target groups. This expands upon the University’s pre-existing suite of equity initiatives of a similar nature, such as pathways programs and student support services.
